There You Were
This morning when I awakened, there you were,
Just like the clock and nightstand over there.
I couldn't reach out, touch or embrace you,
My thoughts of you were rich and true.
I could smell your fragrance, fresh and sweet,
Which caused my heart to rapidly beat.
As I laid there, motionless and consumed,
By the thoughts that I naturally assumed.
I wondered why you looked so radiant and peaceful,
As if you were in a place that was very special.
A place that I hoped you and I shared,
Of a time that proved how much we cared.
We shared, we cared and we loved so deeply,
I listened to how you breathed so sweetly.
There on your face and in your quiet sound,
You reached out and it was I you found.
