This is What I Call a Loyal Love

“There is no loyalty greater than the love of a loyal dog.” By Author

                                   This is What I call Loyal Love

                                     If man can measure loyalty
                                 And gauge devoted love for man
                                 Then the yardstick was my Roxy,
                                   Even more loyal than a friend;

                            Mothered like babes since childhood days
                                Raised in splendour like a princess
                              She had learnt to grasp human ways,
                             Their joys, their sorrows and distress;

                             Each of her wag brightened the heart
                             Like sparks of the sunshine of spring,
                                From her eyes, loyalty would dart
                               From her pat devotion would cling;

                                  She was ever first to welcome
                                The master with her wagging tail,
                              Her leaps and embrace so awesome
                                 And her waltz lovely without fail;

                                Whether in the shine of the day
                                Or in the grim darkness of night
                             Like soldier she would guard the way
                                    With loyalty ever so bright;

                                  A companion for garden walks
                               She would sniff all along the place
                                  Grasping whatever I would talk
                              As she strolled by my side with grace;

                               She would share the master`s sad ply
                                    By lying straight in from of him
                                     And staring at him in the eyes
                               With her eyes with tears close to brim.

                              When fate`s hand was close by her side
                                  After fourteen long lengthy years
                                  She opted for her kennel`s pride
                                Than inside the home to shed tears;

                                      Though meted out a surgery
                                    With thirty stiTches without cry
                                        She was beyond recovery
                                   And passed away without a sigh;

                                        Her funeral, a sheer glory,
                                And her grave on a high-pitched land
                                        Was a match to her loyalty
                                     Glimmering brighter than a man.

                                  Gone she`s with the family`s heart
                                    Like a jar shattered in fragments
                                       Like a piece of rag torn apart,
                                     Such to her was our attachment;

                                          Let fidelity be your name
                                        So dedicated was your love,
                                    Ever adored would be your fame
                                      With your loyalty miles above.
