To Be In Love
To be in love
To be in love is to touch the ethos
To understand in a moment
That the angels in the sky in the world are all paying attention to you because they know
It's to fall down on your knees
To buckle under the weight of it
Have you ever held a leaf in your hand
Seen the veins
Held it up to light and marveled at the variations of green
Have you ever listened to a babbling brook
Or smelled the forest...
that dance of Moss and dew
Have you ever walked out into the night alone
When there's no one on the streets
And felt no fear
Have you ever had someone acknowledge that they love you
that you can't have
But just knowing that they love you
You feel like you can go on forever and ever and ever alone
You can't have them
You can't even try
But just knowing that they love you
That aknowledgement alone gives you the kiss of life
It can give quietude
singularity
It's intrinsic absolute purpose and happiness
Rain can fall and so often does in these moments
and you are wash clean
Washed with and washed free from the desire
Washed of the want
To be loved and to love even if it can never be
Can gives you a magnitude
An exaggeration of being
You are lifted up into some sort of space
where things here on earth don't matter
Even if you may never see them again
until you see them on the other side
But you already have it in your hand
It's in your heart and in your soul
And it's yours to keep forever
I can't reach out and grab you
I can't lay my hand upon your chest
I suppose I have in dreams
I cannot kiss you deeply or make love to you with abandon
But I will keep you safe within me for the rest of my life
To love and be loved
Transcends here and now and moves us on to another place
So it doesn't matter when you or I die
Clocks keep ticking
Days go on
You make memories with people who spend their everyday with you
Joyful happy incredible memories are made everyday
I will never have every day with you
But you will be with me everyday until I die and when I die
I will get to you
and we will have our first kiss someday
On that other side
