To Love Again
My heart is heavy-laden with love anew.
For to thee, hath I pledged love forever true.
Of constant heart I promised to be.
What now hindereth my vow to thee?
Only death’s cruel hand which took thee from me!
Shall I now at fate’s bequeath surrender my heart
to love once more?
Between heartache and desire I am torn.
In tearful sorrow I make my plea; I ask that thou release me.
The heart ,who past knowing, can but understand
how joy and sorrow could walk hand in hand.
