To the Ice-Cold Heart
I turn to your heart – I can’t speak to you -
Don’t be ice-cold, have mercy on my lips
Burning with desire, my poor heart’s needs,
On my longing dreams which never come true…
Heart! Hear me and come to my rescue.
There’s a cold wind blowing from you. It meets
My heart on its way – a whirling ellipse –
And tries to freeze it – so hot and so true.
But I’ll find my allies: the sun, bright stars
To crumble this ice, to melt the iron.
I’ll call together all the elements,
And I’ll win with the help of them – no bars!
But give me a slender chance– I still yearn,
I can’t stand this suffering in silence…
