Traitor
Traitor

Living those moments over and over in his head
Witnessing the love undone in this very bed
An innocent bystander in this crime scene tale
He was away, she drove home that rusty nail
The conversations and passion forever to be seen
Through scars in his mind that replay in his dreams
She proved him right, the evidence they left behind
His heart became a silhouette inside her broken mind
Shattered pictures of sunrise smiles and a blissful kiss
Moments he could never get back after all of this
The girl he once knew now hid behind sleepless eyes
Her barren mind became the site of his hearts demise
Once they fought in their final stand with bright eyes
Should’ve known all along that demons never die
They stood apart then, waged battles in their own minds
But she never came back, he lost his grand design
He returned to the hill where they rose to great heights
Now the sun has burned out; and gone is the light
Just overgrown tombs of promises they never kept
Scars that’ll never heal and truths he won’t accept
He knew just what to say to get through the day
Every blank stare more than words could ever say
Once again he searched for the warrior within
Knowing love went deeper than scars on his skin
He sat in his room behind closed window blinds
Let his mind realign and drift back in time
A place that knew was so alive and true
Where he was a man with a face that he knew
Holding the moment in time where bright eyes aligned
He looked to the future for a place he could shine
…alone
