Trying To Love Again
I was once blessed with great love in my life
A brilliant, handsome man made me his wife
Decades have passed and some suitors I’ve had
But none could compare to John or my Dad
It’s time now to look beyond boundaries
Let a new man sweep in like a summer breeze
Standards of the past had been set too high
And none could match them although some did try
It may be too much to expect wisdom
Or hope that sensitivity would come
Wit and humor I may have to forego
Along with a home in a fine chateau
If only I can find an open heart
In a man whose words don’t tear me apart
Just a loving embrace at each day’s end
Perhaps not a soul mate, but a great friend
