Unrequited
With the fierceness born in your eyes
and dawn placing itself as your halo
You wait for the tenderest flower to rise
as it punctures the Earth from below
With hands made of feathers
every vein and every road
placing love into every letter
that you have ever wrote
How many times, I wonder, how many times
have I wished to be beneath your love
How many times have I wanted be to by your side
Hand in hand, glove in glove
Alas, you cannot love someone
who doesn't love you back
So, now that this poem is done
I think I'll just go and get a snack
