What a Compassionate Saviour
WHAT A COMPASSIONATE SAVIOUR
What a compassionate saviour!
Who loves us great beyond measure…
Our iniquities like filthy rags he wore
All our sins on His shoulders He bore
For our sake, his life he laid
All our debts with His blood He paid
Even when we were lost
He had redeemed us by paying the Calvary cost...
He took our sinful form and left his throne above
To pay a cost triggered by the truest and purest of love
Because of His love
We all live as if our evil days
Never came our ways
Because of His love
Our sins though red as scarlet
We're washed to be whiter than snow tablet
Because of His love
Our flesh and all worldly lust
Surrender to holy living, which we must
Because of His love
Wings like eagles to us who wait
And all crooked roads are made straight
Because of His love
He may not come early, He always answers
Neither comes too late to make us joyful dancers
Because of His love
We're fearless of him who steals, kills and destroys
Like a defended city, we all rejoice
Because of His love
For His flesh and blood, we wine and dine
From all races, we arise and shine
What a compassionate saviour!
Who loves us great beyond measure…
Once blind: He makes us see
Bound: He sets us free
Lame: He makes us walk
Dumb: He gives us voice to talk
Sick: He gives us healing
Sorrowful: He sets us rejoicing
Barren: He makes us fruitful
Outcast: He makes us useful
Rejected: in Him we’re accepted
He paid all; we’re no more indebted
Poor: He makes us rich
Hungered: we’re fed with bread and fish
Weak: He makes us strong
And gave us a new tongue
He sends the comforter
And makes us conquerors forever
What a compassionate saviour!
Who loves us great beyond measure…
