Love Poem: WHEN I WAS A LOVER

WHEN I WAS A LOVER

In my young life I loved,
In my young life I was loved,
Love at the time was given.
Love at the time was born,
Love at the time, was part of life,
When I was a lover I was with my mother,
When I was a lover, it felt safe,
When I was a lover, I would feel it,
When I lost it, I wanted it back so i become a man,
A man, well little did I know, but I become a man,
A man's love is not given,
A man's love is not born,
A man's love is not part of life but a way of life,
So for am alive, I loved, yet I knew love is not born,
So for a man, love is not born, love is bought
As a man in love I learnt hate,
As a man in love I learnt pain
As a man in love I understood torture
As a man in love I become fond of competition
As a man in love I started losing, and losing, and losing again
When I was a lover none of it made sense, pain, torture and competition, made no sense.
Well, when I was a lover, and now I am a lover
Now as a lover I had to give what was once given,
Now as a lover, I wondered have I ever been a lover,
Maybe? Or maybe I thought my mother's love would suit my woman's love
When I was a lover, I was right, always right... Now i am a lover
For now I am a lover, nothing make sense, all of it,
WHEN I WAS A LOVER, IT FELT REAL, NOW I BECAME A LOVER, NONE OF IT MAKE SENSE
