Where Are You
Through the window of my heart I used to see
Images of my friends, parents, you and me
Some make make me laugh, others make me cry
A mixture of bright days and dark skies
Vivid memories of my little house
Where I played as a kid without any grouse
Youth and adulthood, loss and love
Both caged birds and soaring doves
I see my parents trying to make ends meet
And how despite their efforts only misery did greet
How in their eyes I saw both hope and despair
My beautiful house in various states of disrepair
Through the small door of my heart you entered
My friend, My love, and you mentored
Me in the nuances of life and ways right
Seeing you used to be my day's best sight
Then there were times when the sky was dark
Actions unwarranted due to emotions stark
Words exchanged that jeopardized our very relation
That seemed to rock my little house's foundation
But through every turmoil we stood strong
Enduring every storm, sustained a relation long
So through the window of my heart I still see you
And I want you near me; Where are you?
