Where Lilies Stood
Our feet, wet and bare, marked our track
In pearlescent dew upon the grass
While, bright and fresh, the morning sang:
Two cardinals shrilling,
Autos crawling far-off,
And sun, bright as gold, warm on my face
When, there, in our garden,
Where lilies stood yawning,
I kissed your soft cheek
For what we had done.
