Her mother was a Southern Belle, her dad from Yankee Land
She got the best of both of them, as you read, you'll understand.

She was small in weight and stature. Her good looks made me feel great.
I felt we had a lot in common, so I asked her for a date.

She was loving and was loyal, was my all my everything.
I was so glad, when she said yes, to the wearing of my ring.

She never did things half-way, was good at all the things she tried,
I saw that when we dated, that's why I took her for my bride.

Her intelligence exceptional, her love was so complete
Always set a good example, was non-accepting of defeat.

She said her prayers every night, to the good Lord up above.
She was a Catholic, I a Baptist, a mixed marriage, filled with love.

Our life began in sixty-nine. God lifted her in twenty-two
My sorrow almost overcame me. What was I supposed to do?

Then I heard her voice, within my ear, saying, “I'm still here with you.
Carry on and make me proud, in everything you say and do.”

She's looking down and watching, helping me to walk the walk
If I listen very closely, she helps me also talk the talk

I know that she's still with me, in my mind and in my heart
I'll see her later on in Heaven, where we'll never be apart

Her deep belief, in Jesus Christ, went with her all the way.
She always lived, what she believed, now she's with him on this day.
