Why I Write
I write
to rid the tears off my eyes,
pain befriends these thoughts of mine.
Oftentimes,
bleeding through pages
lessens time for crying times,
giving light to those experiencing similar trials.
Though I'd loved to pen the paper
ever since I could remember,
it became easier, as I age;
to voice out my thoughts
when most capable of owning the words I said.
Anxiety would demand me not to share,
but I'd develop the liver not to care,
as better days commend a conversation,
of thoughts exposed to those who have read.
I write
to express my perspectives,
a beautiful mind as mine
should expose itself of what it thinks about the most.
I write
to educate, encourage,
enlighten your strength,
for nothing is as powerful
as the words that give breath.
