You Walk In Beauty
You Walk In Beauty
You walk in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless and starry skies;
You are all that's best of dark and bright
We meet in the loving her eyes:
Thus mellow to that tender light
Which heaven so gladly grants me.
One light more, one less dark,
You have impaired the nameless grace
A soft breez which waves in every tree,
So softly lightens your face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
Yes on your cheek a kiss, and on your brow
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that wins, My heart that glow,
We speak of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all before us,
And a heart whose love is innocent!
