You Will Never Know

You will never know,
When you walked into my life, you saved me from me

You will never know,
The torturous depths of my despair, destruction my closest ally

You will never know,
The absolute determination and strength, the willingness to be normal for you

You will never know,
The healing power of your presence, recognising my worth through your eyes

You will never know,
The invincibility I felt consumed by love, the shielding sanctity of your arms

You will never know,
The soul searing pain that was entirely your creation, the intensity of struggle to breathe

You will never know,
The daily torment that returned, how past demons greeted me hungrily

You will never know,
The resolution it took to stay present in mind, to choose life

You will never know,
The hours consumed exclusively in anger and inner rage, the times I almost left

You will never know,
The day i acknowledged my worth, unveiling my value my place in the world to me

You will never know,
That weakness is not in my name, I am the strong one

You will never know,
The exact moment I saw it reflected in your eyes, the realisation you saw it too

You will never know,
How triumphant I felt in victory, before recognising joy can be a destructive force alone

You will never know,
The extent of changes within my core, as season after season passes by

You will never know,
That everlasting is my love, the healing it brings evident in our unity

You will never know,
I bare no scars of regret from our journey; it has made me who I am today

                                    Able to save myself
