Your Children
Your Children
By Franklin Price

Your children are your legacy
They are your heart and soul
What you are is part of them
It's written on the scroll
Provide for them the best you can
Mold them to what you want to see
Then let them grow to be themselves
Be the ones they want to be
Give love that's unconditional
In hopes they'll give it back
Don't think that they don't care for you
For something that you lack
Don't blame your troubles on them
They're not the parents here
What you see is what you've raised
The responsibility is clear
If ever ties are loosened
And noses out of joint
Remember you're the parent
Somehow you've helped to reach this point
So get over how you're feeling
Tighten knots and fix the nose
After all you are the parent
And they're children that you chose
Children they are always
Yet grow up and off they go
Don't become that foolish parent
Who has children they don't know
