Your Ghost
"although the throes of woes became pain
demons swallowed your body in vain-
protected by none when youth was worn,
is there something about the first born
that breaks you until fragments remain?”
you became an intoxicating bottle of why, always sipping
slow enough just for a taste, but fast enough to hide it from me-
addicted to addiction, trying to abstain from the chase of always
wanting one more.
you awoke from your sleep completely drained of energy-
all that you were destined for had been tossed into winds of
brooding clouds;
you bid your final farewell to the silent stars of yesterday not
knowing that you were singing songs to your scars,
hoping they would heal-
though they ran deep…
they were b e a u t i f u l, my sweet.
“you were slain for insecurity,
shadowed by death’s obscurity-
protected by none when needed most,
for I’m in love…
with your lullaby ghost.”
