What Matters Most

What Matters Most

What matters most is obvious to me. It’s hearth and home, kin and family. Life is an hourglass and the sands of your time keep drifting down - drifting, drifting, drifting downward as you race to get in all the things you want to do! But take time to breathe in the things you love: fresh baked bread, roses, the petrichor of spring! Simple are life’s joys. Give all you love to all those you love, for that will be your legacy when your sands run out and the hourglass turns over. Falling

At first
love floats like a snowflake,
until it melts in your hand.

Then it falls,
like an Autumn leaf,
eventually swept away in the breeze.

Sometimes love offers mercy,
like April showers to rose petals,
but no rain can save from decay.

Love wants to be free like a kite,
flying colourfully in bright blue skies,
but grey clouds ruin its flight.

One day love will descend like sunset.
Maybe we are born to fall -
but love will always ascend again like sunrise.

Secrets of Passion

The sheets beneath the shadow lights a spark, for whence we laid down he nestled his head. Our enchantment lights magic in the dark, but so much is spoken with words unsaid. For love can be given without a sound, and received within the silence of night. Freely nurturing with touching, profound, nevertheless understood without sight. Let us keep the secrets of passion calm, yet exalt beyond the whisper of breeze. Free from apprehension and busy qualm, longing for our souls to be hushed with ease. For as long as we remain free from sound, our mystical romance will be unbound. ~28 April 2016~

April Romance

My heart returns to you like spring
Awakening with April rain
As pale petals tenderly cling
To promises of daylight's gain

I turn to you like seasons do
Dewy and fresh from winter's depth
Seeding our love in rainbow hues
Green life misting our mingled breath

Your eyes, once shy, now warmly bloom
Vast meadows of poppy sweet red
Our future in rosy perfume
Even after two decades wed

Once auburn, more silver does grow
Yet gleaming with color's recall
A blossom kept beneath the snow
You are my spring, summer and fall

Heartache's Milkshakes

On this merry-go-round

     Of breakups and breakdowns

Singing the blues

     In our ding-a-ling shoes

We take our heartache's milkshakes

     Spiked with itty-bitty pity

Before we tangle and wrangle

     In the rebound playground.

Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

Springtime is a chance to start your life anew,
Dust off your pride and change your attitude.
Bring forth the hidden treasures, of your heart,
Don’t worry about the past that tore you apart.
Let the fresh air cleanse your soul, body and mind,
Release the inhibitions that have kept you blind.
Love yourself, for who you are and what you can do,
Never worry about what others think, it all about you.
Embrace the earth elements and the comfort they bring,
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the results, of your spring cleaning.

Hope Is My Anchor

Hope is the anchor that secures my soul
Needed for endurance as the Bible foretold
One of three qualities, along with faith and love
I am filled with hope to honor my Holy Father above

Hope in God's promises lightens my heavy load
It's instilled in me when I venture down a dark road
Hope has power to keep me moving in the right direction
And there I will find the mercy and love of God's protection

Hope is a means of trusting in what will be
Faith in the unseen; that is what hope means to me
Life without it fences me inside a brick wall without a gate
I believe in the Word of God; I do not adhere to destiny or fate

I Dreamed a Butterfly

I dreamed a butterfly in golden days when buttercups lay in the fields ablaze. It fluttered to my cheek, sweet love to bring. My heart was wont to burst and wont to sing. In breath of morn was scent of bluebell sprays. On blossomed blankets of the fields we’d laze, and into one another’s eyes we’d gaze, my love and I, as April had her fling. I dreamed a butterfly. Our bliss was as the spring, a fleeting phase, and brief’s the beauty of young lovers’ craze. As cruelly as a wasp, he left a sting - and all the lovely plans we made took wing, leaving mere memories of golden days. I dreamed a butterfly. 2/21/13

A Song of Seasons

I sing a song of springtime.
The earth is green and fair.
Life comes again with scent of rain,
and love is in the air.

I sing a song of summer.
The sun is climbing high.
We laugh and run and have such fun.
How blue becomes the sky!

I sing a song of autumn.
Trees wear their brightest gown.
It’s trick or treat, then bittersweet
as leaves are falling down.

I sing a song of winter.
I sing it soft and low.
The days grow dark and short, but hark!
We bask in Yuletide’s glow!

The Lovers

How gently darkness lays itself upon the restless sea
While breezes scented cool and clean, are blowing wild and free
When moonlight's blush fades gradually and hides its ash white face
A thousand candles dimly lit, now frame the soft embrace

All through the night, with spirits bright as shameless dreams unfold
'till sunlight makes the darkness break to show the story told
Tempest waters calm and smooth, stillness now the sea
Sky and water, bound in love... as lovers, you and me

Your Words of Love

Your words of love so soft and sweet
will lift my spirit off its feet,
and take it to the blue skies clear
to drift with clouds in stratosphere
until my days on earth complete.

With tenderness your soft words greet
and cause my heart to skip a beat
with longings always to be near
               your words of love.

And so with yearnings non discreet,
your thoughts of passion I entreat.
With gentle whispers in my ear
forevermore I long to hear
of tenderness as you repeat
               your words of love

Your Sacred Soul Still Calms and Comforts Me

Ave-Maria hymns lift you in flight
to Heaven’s gate apt angel does ascend
and follows lantern's light predawn of night
on glide of song and blessings she does wend.

On April morn in skies of blue as you
besprinkle crystals from your seraph’s wings,
by mourning noontime snowfall does ensue;
a smoothing swaddle soothing harmed heart-strings.

In diamond-dusted frosted filigree
so sparkles soulful kisses you bestow
for scintillant reflective reverie
your glistened gift you send in silvern snow.

Beloved mother, sainted entity
you hush my cries with snow’s serenity.

A Mother's Love

My child,
As you climb
Life’s journey
To the best of my ability
I will have your back
And steady your ladder
Always I will encourage you
So whenever you look back
You will see my smiling face
Supporting and proud
Cheering you on
Unwavering I will be
At the foot of your ladder

Enlightenment, Hope and Harmony

God sent His only Son to Earth to bring
Enlightenment, Hope and Harmony.
Free will forbade that he should force
The Truth on world that would not see.

For thirty years Christ labored here,
With His clear message from above.
Enlightenment, Hope and Harmony
Will come when Man has learned to love.

Betrayed by one professed as friend,
Christ died upon the cruel tree.
The only charges they could press
Were Enlightenment, Hope and Harmony.

Christ died, but then He did not die
And His bright light still lights the way
To Enlightenment, Hope and Harmony
If we live and love in His pure way.

Of Love

How foolish humans are when puppy love
consumes us! It can happen any time -
most often in our childhood. Plenty of
such crushes happen long before our prime!

How silly as adults can some be too.
Folks marry for wrong reasons, then get burned.
They do it all again and stay so blue.
Life’s lesson for such people is not learned.

How fortunate are those who find “the one!”
They navigate life’s ups and downs and feel
love deepening before their course is run,
then pass away while knowing love was real!

You

i can remember the day
first met with you
i saw the blue deep eyes
that was the day
fall in love with you....

i can feel you around me
when you are not there
you are my oxygen
i can breathe lively here
in love everything is fair......

my heart beats for you
my sleep dreams for you
my sound sing for you
just wanna to say
i love you....

What If

There we were -
veiled in the sheer-yet-semi-private aura of morning twilight;
where only outlines can be seen
but where everything is felt in its full strength and purity.

In a sultry bed -
overstuffed with lost time
lost love and, now, repossessed love
we embraced each other.

Years have a way of tenderizing even the toughest hearts
as fertile tears water emotions;
the beauty of what was - was still there -
ready to rupture its bubbled captivity..

but as the home star streamed in through the eastern window
the curtain came down.

Paint Us As We Are

Thinking of you I’m painting of love
Ascribing endearing brushstrokes
Ambivalent of my reach to inform
As I adumbrate upon soul’s canvas

Come build this portrait with me
Emblazon those empty spaces
Color them boldly as you please
Embolden contours of your wishes

And when your heartbeats speak
Indulge them in enamored feelings
Savoring love’s treasured meaning
As flame of passion ignites within

Clasp this wave beckoning now
Lift us, dear, to crest from trough
Glide merrily riding tides of awe
But paint us, my love~ as we are

The Kingdom Within Viii

You, my friend,
are not a king or a prince
neither are you a nobleman
of
a higher or lower rank,
you are just another poor man like me:
a citizen of perpetual want

yet

you carry within your heart a kingdom,
a kingdom, you very well could inherit
with God's grace
If
only Lord's divine Word you choose to
listen to and follow virtue's path that
He indicates!*

I Remember It Was Intense

it happened all so fast
it was a swoosh it was a blur
it was all so very intense
and I remember every minute
every gruesome detail
every awesome moment
every breath
every look
every word
every silence

I remember days
turning to weeks
I remember wanting to hold on
to never let go

I remember you fading
vanishing before us
I remember you
giving us time
to say goodbye

I remember
the peace in your heart
but mostly
it’s the love I remember

Of Grief and Pain

Grief I have known little of.
It’s not as if I ever lost
my one true love.

One brother taken in his prime
saddened us, and yet I know
we’ll see him in good time

My father - two years ago -
passed away, but a stranger was he to me.
Grief too difficult I’ve yet to know.

Yes, great grief I think has yet to be my bane.
I’m compensated physically instead
with chronic pain!

Sahara

I roll and roll, beneath a blood-red sky.
How I burn with desire for you.
I am the sands of the Sahara in search of sweet relief
as every particle of my body fills with white heat.

Passion-parched, I turn toward you -
drifting to the brink – a dune of madness.
The cool blue of you that I seek appears as if a mirage.
I am Sahara, and my love is vast. Let me quench myself in you.
