My Christmas Song

Light me a new candle,
  Put it before the manger,
It is a bit cold, love.
      Yet we’re in no danger.

There's Jesus, a small babe
  In a cold, wintry day
    Lying on some fresh straw.
      Kneel down and calmly pray.

Mary, Joseph calmly,
  Adore the king of kings
    Shepherds come with their lambs
      Angels fly with bright wings.

Christ in Bethlehem born.
  Choirs sing heavenly hymns.
Let us give Him His due
      Ask to forgive our sins.

Dawns Gifts

Silver shimmers
   reflected by the sea
When dawn kisses each
    silhouetted tree.
As sunrise pierces
    fleecy clouds of blush
A canvass bides the
    eager artist's brush.

Our Banyon bids adieu
    to fowl in flight...
Their songs reverberate
    in morning light
Attesting to the joy
    each dawn excites
In explosive colors
    which Sol ignites.

As breezes blow through
    azure skies above
I share divinely Dawn's
     sweet gifts of love.

Christmas Wish

When i wake from my happy dream
I remember magic did appear
Angels sang and freedom rang
and you and I were there

We sat amongst the flowing fields
with fauna all around
I held you tight through the night
never making but a sound

Before we woke three words we spoke
which were meaningless until today
as we kissed under the acient oak
I asked you if you'd stay

For I have dreamt and I have wished
for a love that will ring true
so a Christmas Wish I ask of you
is for you to love me too.

A Christmas Snow

I wish to see the beauty of a Christmas snow and hear the songs about a holy birth. Along the streets where lights are strung aglow, I wish to see the beauty of the Christmas snow. But most of all, I wish for love to grow in every heart till there is peace on earth. I wish to see the beauty of a Christmas snow and hear the songs about a holy birth.

Christmas Gifts

Christmas Gifts

Christmas time was lonely for this young boy.
He lived a homeless life upon the street.
Remembering before, when life held joy,
Inside, warm and cozy near a hearth's heat.

Snowmen always seemed to share such delight
That he thought he would build one near each home,
Maybe joining in a fun snowball fight,
Always creating snowmen in the gloam;

Sweet surprise for families unaware.
Giving the only gift he could think of
In building each snowman he took such care,
For it was his kind way to share his love.

These gifts brought him such happiness to see
Smiles upon surprised faces filled with glee.

Memory Wreath

Each year before Christmases of the past
Past visitors came to trim my holiday tree
Tree with ornaments homemade to last
Lasting, unique gifts of their artistry

Artistry now shown in a wreath on my door
Door filled with treasures I was blessed to receive
Received gifts from those who are with us no more
More reminders that love in my heart will never leave

*For Dr. Ram's "Wreath" Contest. (Eight-line quatrain/rhyme using the last word of each line as the first word of the next line.) Merry Christmas, everyone!

My Love Is Real

A pre-lit Christmas tree sparkles the entrance Monet, Van Gough, and Wassily Kandinsky prints adorn the walls of her sitting room a dozen painted roses sit in a faux crystal vase and the smell of apple pie lingers in the air coming from her Scentsy candle warmer resting upon her replica baby grand piano The seconds tick loudly from the tree house looking cuckoo clock as I wait patiently I wait down the stairs she comes waltzing ever so gracefully ever so elegant in her bright flowing yellow dress accented by beautiful costume jewelry my heart skips a beat as we kiss hello and I know yes I know This love is real

Christmas Waltz

Soft
songs in
tunes
know of
Christ child's love
in praise
that
pure dear
notes were sung,
as Kings bend low
with gifts of
gold and
oils
to bless
God's sweet son.
Christmas,
we
share His
love.

Old Fashioned Christmas

It’ll be an old fashioned Christmas,
with Santa due down the chute.
I bet he Purells his reindeer,
and Lysols his hazmat suit.

It’s an old fashioned Christmas.
We’ll all have on our masks,
and our muffled yuletide carols,
will be just like seasons past.

We’ll observe all the guidelines.
We’ll eat six feet apart.
We’ll have disinfectant under the mistletoe,
and keep safety in our hearts.

Sure, it’s an old fashioned Christmas.
One unique to the times.
The love this year might be careful,
but the feelings are genuine.

Postember

POSTEMBER

December
Glorious month
Good will
Hearth-side colors aromas
Sound of Jingle Bells carols
All the senses taking one back -
back when imagination was fertile rooted in
     In magic and love
We – even the godless – cherish the entire month
But what when December fades?
I say there should be another month
Oh not rooted in time –
A contemplative month – outside the let-down that is
    January 2nd

Postember
When one goes out the window taps the eternal
love and joy listening to that inner voice
    proclaiming –
“Nothing is over
Here is eternal Christmas in the true sense
Linger”

A Silent Christmas

It's going to be a Silent Christmas

Now that my Star has Gone

Our tree Stands Bare and Lonely

Without YOU here at home

I'll watch the fading Pictures

Of Christmas times before

Remembering happier moments

Warm Hugs hanging on the Walls

It's gonna be a Sad Christmas

Smiles have gone away

Bells of tears fall Ringing

In Joys of Our Yesterday's

If I had one Wish for Christmas

I'd wish that You were here

May this Prayer reach you in Heaven

Saying "I love YOU... and I Miss You Dear"

The Christmas Card

Christmas day so full of joy,
putting a smile on my face.
Inspiring your eldest boy
with love. I say grace

I am fortunate to have
a mother like you.
No matter the distance between us,
Your love will shine through.

You've made me what I am today.
Molded me into Asavvy man.
Being there, supporting my dreams.
Doing everything you can.

I say thank you Mom,
for all that you have done.
My muse, my backbone, my mother, I love you.
Sincerely,
Your eldest son......

Dear Santa I Want a Batmobile

Dear Santa I want a batmobile that can fly
I want to go way up above the sky
You probably think it's silly and are asking yourself, why?
You see I've got to get to heaven so it has to go real high
Don't get the wrong impression, I don't want to die
I wish to meet a couple grandparents, for them mom and dad do cry
They say they'd love me and wish I could have met them as they let out a sigh
If I can't have a batmobile I'll settle for a set of wings, just bring me something that can fly

Christmas 2021

I love Christmas
a special time
watching people smile
seeing children laugh
a blessing this year
in lieu of the grief
and illness around
we need to remember
it's a time to
love one another
and show we care
there was a time
we were told
that wise men came
to see a child
this child grew up
he spoke about
what matters
my Christmas wish
is things that matter
will be our treasure
finding a home
in our hearts

Sleighs on dells
Joyful things
Tinkling bells

Love here dwells

If The Dolphins Swim Alone

If I'm not home for Christmas
And I've lost my heart at war
Just know that I'll be there with you, my love
From heaven...for evermore
By chance I cross the oceans
And see dolphins swim with glee
I'll find the brightest star at night
And bring it home for you and me
We'll sit upon its fingers
And watch the mornings light
And when the evenings sun sets down
We'll go back there again at night
Just know that I'll be there with you, my love
And I'll be with you...for evermore
By chance the dolphins swim alone
And I lose my heart at war

*Dedicated to all the soldiers and heroes at war who have sweethearts and wives at home.

A Silver Christmas Wish

And from a silvered point of view
                     A merry day has changed
I guess that is the way is
                  When much has rearranged

No more the wrapping, hiding gifts
                  That beg a Christmas cheer
Yet rather praying those we love
We wake to find still here

And from a silvered point of view
                               A Santa in disguise
Is found not hiding on the roof
                       But found in loving eyes

Yet nothing wrong there is with fun
                              A tinsel perfect day
To cherish every kind of gift
With love to lead the way

- Stuck In a Snowglobe With You -

In a moment of silence
The winter's crystals are filled
in a snowglobe with you

A window without curtains
Like two sparrows in the country of love
We escape from problems in line
and money that burns

To get away from Christmas and stress
This is one of the most magical places on earth
So close, cheek to cheek

We sit on this branch and shine
in our common air and landscape
Christmas is time for peace,
love and reflection

Take care of those around you
Christmas is a period of the year
it's hardest to be lonely

After Christmas - In the Moment

The time is after midnight, and I’m in the moment, thinking how another Christmas has come and gone. My spouse and I are tucked in bed, warm and cozy. Outside, white beauty coldly blankets our front lawn. Snickers, our new dog, sleeps peacefully between us. The cat creeps up beside me now. How I love her! How trusting are these creatures God gives us - how pure! Our cat lies down by Snickers. I hear her soothing purr. The visit with our daughter and her family was nice. With gifts, glad hearts and tummies full, we traveled home. More memories to cherish; the old year passes. In the moment - grateful - I finish with this poem.
