Sapora Rifka

Hello all! This next poem is a very special poem because it was written by my father when I was very young and because of him, he has passed his talent to write poetry down to me. This poem is called "Sapora Rifka" or Hebrew for "singing bird" (Yes, I new fact about me is that I am Jewish :P) Anyway, please enjoy "Sapora Rifka" by my father!

Despite the Chelsea,
Ever arrayed and a keen,
Sapora Rifka soars high above the world she lives in.
Childlike in her disposition.
Sapora Rifka finds joy in harmonizing what she sees.
Sports Rifka, my little fatal;
On key to sing her many songs of praise.

Every Time We Make Love / Lali Tsipi Michaeli

Every time we make love

I stand with
one hair
In my mouth

To get to you I need to cross Dizengoff via Ben Gurion
Nathan Zach through Rabin Square and Iben Gvirol

To turn in to King David and make a right
Ascend the step
Rolling towards the silence of the blossoming stairwell
To the lift that always
Opens like a Mercedes
And drives me directly to the streets of your arms

By the way,
Do you remember my throwing up in your car?

It was from love.

Paint Me Ablaze / Lali Tsipi Michaeli

Paint Me Ablaze

paint me ablaze
like Rome
start from the head eyeballs mouth nose
castle
hills via neck

harnessed
dusty roads
long hands fingers of
books

waist stomach
kingdom of sorrow
all the king's seats
streams of the fields
and valleys of love

my thighs and knees will slowly burn

for a sign of my future shame
paint
a birth mark
my calves that are trained to go stright ahead til the ankles
convents
feet
toes
the king's army

like an air my name will burn
my meaning will be strewn from my ashes
any sense from my tendons will be free

Michael Simkin

I Love Praying With Those Who Trust Jesus and People

Prayer for Recovery and strength for Carmelo & Family:

Christ, in Hebrew, Messiah, is Mighty in Anointing
Christ and Carmelo begin with C; a Sea of Living
And giving and forgiving: Carmelo and Mrs. C are praying
For "Thy Will Be Done, Jesus," as is done, too, in Italy
A couple who care so much, for Lives, all lives, this Country
We join their children, Carmelo's children, in faithfully
Thanking Jesus for Grace, Eternity, a Living Legacy
As Mr. C soldiers on, inspired by, and inspiring, his progeny.

Cohen Family Simcha

O, I love to attend a Cohen family simcha**
      That is where I really love to be-e-e!

    For when you're at a Cohen family simcha,
      You are always treated roy-al-ly!

**A simcha is Hebrew or Yiddish for a happy event, such as a wedding.

                  The ditty above is to be sung to the tune of
                    "The Oscar Mayer Wiener Whistle Song"

Love

What is it with Love
That makes me
then breaks me?

When in love
Do I truly love?

Is it really love
Or do I think that I love?

Maybe I just love being in love
Or love the idea of being in love?

I spent my whole life chasing love.
In the end the one thing I truly love
Could just be the meir pursuit of love.

Author's Note: ‘meir’ in hebrew (m’r) means 'that which burns brightly, that which illuminates'.
This poem was Inspired by the viewing of Satoshi Kon's ‘Millenium Actress’

Joseph of the Book of Genesis

Joseph of the book of Genesis
Is a big figure in the Bible;
His Hebrew name means Increase,
He is one of God's chosen people.

Sold into difficult slavery
By his eleven jealous brothers;
He had become vizier in Egypt,
And rose to have viceregal powers.

Joseph was elected as second
Most powerful man in whole Egypt;
His office was next to the Pharaoh,
His faith, hope, and love were truly deep.

Men of Israel settled in Egypt
After leaving Canaan behind;
Revenge was not in Joseph's heart,
Real concern instead is in his mind.

Let everyone of us emulate
His humility and true meekness;
Jacob taught these values to his son
Joseph of the book of Genesis.

Hebrew Poetry

A Maskil by Anil
Themes that span every emotion Schemes and plans of enemies No rhyme but every reason To thank Creator God for victories Lord Thy Love bathed us for generations Lord Thou, ever faithful, so merciful Lord, without Thee, hate and humiliations Would be our cup. Worship God Eternal (Selah! A musical term, or pause) We praise Him dawn & dusk, First Cause

'twas the Night Before Pesach

~ 'Pesach' is Hebrew for Passover ~

     ‘Twas the night before Pesach
        up and down the street
     Not a speck of grain seen
        no bread or barley to eat

     No spaghetti, no noodles,
        no pretzels or beer
     No yeast-cakes or dough
        nothing leavened ‘round here

     But for matzo and wine
        you’re in the right place
     Fruit, eggs and potatoes
        our fridge’s out of space…

     Pesach's been just like this
        over 3,000 years
     A labor of love ~
        for a festival dear

God Will See You Through the Fire

Three Hebrew men worshipped
God with a strong desire.
Even if it meant being
thrown into the fire.
Nebucadnezzar gave the
command... he was king.
But he couldn’t believe what
he was seeing!

Shortly after shutting the door,
“Rather than three in the fire—
I now see four!”
He was so astonished as
to what he saw,
Nothing on these men burned...
nothing at all!

The fourth one was God...
Jesus... the true one.
The men had a visit from God’s
precious son.
Living for God will
not be easy to do.
But through the fires of life...
God will see you through!

Honey Tree

I met a Lady like Queen Deborah;
Her smile was pure as Judah.
As I gazed into her eyes;
I became still as if I were paralized.
I saw a reflection of myself and realized;
I had been captured by God's Spirit eyes.
I saw a vision of God's glory,
And remembered the Hebrew story.
The song of Deborah, I kept viewing,
Reminding me of the lord's blessings.
I was on a date with her, deep in thought;
I visualized a date palm with honey fruit.
I embraced the fruit branches to eat;
I tasted the fruit, and the juice was sweet.
I opened my eyes and realized,
I had been kissed by a Lady; I was amazed!

Messianic Jews

Messianic Jews, kindred believers,
weep in joy,
Our sweet Yeshua cleansed and saved
all of us with His suffering sacrifice.
He walks among His faithful,
death and sorrow defied.

In Hebrew, you lift up your voices,
singing a thankful prayer,
"Toda Raba,
shalom u'vrakha, our Yeshua!"
He hears, His radiance,
His love eternal,
shining in the sunbeams,
illumining His Sacred Heart. ~

The Inner Sanctum

I looked around your great cathedral,
And saw many marvelous works,
Works of Hebrew, Latin,and Greek
Works that were fashioned by the great Michaelangelo.
Now he being fashioned in a great sleep.
After times past, I would go in and look.

The arc of the ceiling spelled words that entered my heart. The pictures praised
words that would fall as plaster.
The dynamic brush strokes are wiped away with time and the most of the paint is
transparent and dull.
Many people find their way through this place and see the memory.

Falling Leaves

Leaves falling,
 dancing in the air...
 They are unplugged feathers,
 they are sad tears
 floating... they seem !
     But in fact,
     are divine deeds
      to transform
       to renew life...
        seasons...
         ahavah...!

   PS: Ahavah means love in hebrew
