Past the Graveyard: Rondeau

Past the graveyard deep in snow
where icicles from boughs hang low
one woman at a headstone weeps
as memories in warmth she keeps,
all dressed in black like winter crows.

Still muted angels' trumpets blow
where frost on trees like lichens grow
and 'cross the powder darkness creeps
past the graveyard.

As by the iron fence I go
the granite gapes in pewter rows.
My heart into my throat now leaps;
her mortal love in silence sleeps
in frozen ground while snowflakes blow
past the graveyard.

Homeless Holidays

The icicles that grow for years
and slowly cry then drop and die
in liquid pools of frozen tears.

The pain that builds within a lie;
lives that wait for want of love
and slowly cry then drop and die.

Prayers for kind hearts undreamt of
in a world of cold despair;
lives that wait for want of love.

No shelter from the winter air -
longing for a warm embrace
in a world of cold despair.

Where they're gone without a trace,
hopes that freeze before they drip,
longing for a warm embrace.

From this world they gladly slip -
the icicles that grow for years;
hopes that freeze before they drip
in liquid pools of frozen tears.

A Form of Beauty - Quatern

I imagined her as a poem
Perhaps as graceful as an elm
I'd love if she were a sonnet
All aglow in a pink bonnet

Like a red rose upon the stem
I imagined her as a poem
Just swaying in the falling rain
with the rhythm of a dizain

Perhaps she was a villanelle
With the charm of a terzanelle
I imagined her as a poem
She could be either one of them

Her words upon the page would chime
Flowing with beauty, like a rhyme
With lustre of a precious gem....
I imagined her as a poem

The Simple Truth

We all are one, simply know this
Let’s see ourselves for who we are
In God’s image, love, light and bliss

No need then to struggle and spar
Voids within fill, if we be still
Let’s see ourselves for who we are

On choosing to relinquish will
Bliss magnetism pervades our form
Voids within fill, if we be still

Suffused with divine currents warm
With Holy Spirit, we connect
Bliss magnetism pervades our form

We’re both the object and subject
The truth is, we’re He, who we seek
With Holy Spirit, we connect

Simple is wisdom, yet quite deep
We all are one, simply know this
The truth is, we’re He, who we seek
In God’s image, love, light and bliss

Butterfly Flutter

Like an aerial butterfly flutter
The same your lips are caressing my face
And so my mind is lost in a clutter.

As a storm produced by butterfly grace
On environment acts out of control
So the sweet contact of lips can efface

My brain completely as a Champagne bowl.
A miracle is which makes me nutter
But it is love which just enters my soul.

As an aerial butterfly flutter
Renders my mind as lost in a clutter.

Along Our Path

Along our path, I've scattered seeds around,
so when the songs of meadowlarks resound,
sweet violets will soon spring from the ground.

As if inside a dream, we'll softly tread
along that path now blossom-carpeted
and make sweet love on a violet bed.

Warm and Gentle Wind

A warm and gentle wind once in my life
Whispering told me that it was the day
I met by destiny my future wife.

A warm and gentle wind also today
Is soft whispering with a steady blow
To tell me that its whispering can pay.

A warm and gentle wind which made me grow
Whispering to predict a joyful wife
Is even warmer now with its kind flow.

A warm and gentle wind sure in my life
Helps to overcome any future strife.

Clothes stick like a fly to fresh fly paper
Have same trapped feeling in heat of summer
Let's escape to small island where calmer

Island paradise, palm trees, soft warm wind
Now entering that relaxed frame of mind
Change of pace, in comfy hammock reclined

Total peace as the fierce storm approaches
Rain, cooler air mighty wind sways branches
Love, imagination places on beaches.....

Just Give a Smile

Waiting so long for your sweet glance will you look at me just for once? That is enough to make me dance! Just like monsoon sky is your mind sudden black clouds amid sunshine, cause of rainfall I just can't find. Now please look up and give a smile bring back sunshine just for a while don't let go this evening futile. © kashinath karmakar(13th August 2011) ==============000=============== Placement:HM ;(August 2011) By:kashinath karmakar Contest:Triplet Sponsor:Dr Ram Mehta

Fruitful Birthday

My sister enjoys planting pumpkin
Shes called a country bumpkin
She harvests in her garden
among oscillating leaves
Her birthday is in November
On the seventh, I remember
Shes called a country bumpkin
Abundant seed she sunk in
On your very special day
Sending sisterly love your way
On the seventh, I remember
Glowing birthday cake candles ember
May your day be as fruitful as your garden
And may your heart never harden
Sending sisterly love your way
Upon a sunshine prayer today and everyday

Animal Love

At Sea World whales kissed

     Animal love, what a twist

Is there something most humans missed?

We are the only mammals who kill

     Simply for the thrill

Is mankind short on good will?

True Love

A love that has lasted so long
Magnetic attraction this strong
Is a love that cannot go wrong

Your hot breath caresses my neck
Stimulation not kept in check
The outcome a disheveled wreck

The only true love of my life
Through happiness, heartache, and strife
My soul mate, my partner, my wife

Pieces of Me

The pieces of me have been scattered.
With force thrown to the lonely winds.
You didn't realize! my love mattered.

You say I am guilty I have sinned.
You dismantled me tossed me away.
With force thrown to the lonely winds.

I will be reconstructed one day.
The essence of me won't dissapear.
You dismantled me tossed me away.

Listen close to the winds you will hear.
Songs from the man I strive to be
The essence of me won't dissapear.

Do you recognize the sound of me?
Songs from the man I strive to be.
The pieces of me have been scattered.
You didn't realize! my love mattered.

How Great Is a Mother's Love

By Poet "A mother's love is made in heaven."
A special gift given from above only one person can feel. How great is a mother's love. She always has ready a delicious meal working many long hours only one person can feel. Her garden is filled with flowers wiping away the tears working many long hours she has no fears as she kneels to pray wiping away the tears joy is watching the children at play before the coming rain as she kneels to pray she will wrap her arms around you like a chain A special gift given from above before the coming rain how great is a mother's love.

Fantasy Terzanelle Questionku

It starts as a simple thought
that echoes in the brain
waiting for idealism sought

Idealism starts the process train
that brings forth the  fantasy
that echoes  in the brain

To fantasise is to be free
to imagine to feel totally
That brings forth the fantasy

to escape life's reality
no holding back the desire
to imagine to feel  totally

I fantasise about the burning fire
imagining it within me
no holding back the desire

No longer afraid, because you  see
it starts as a simple thought
imagining it within me
waiting for idealism sought

Querido

Fell asleep and woke up screaming,
You were there beside me dreaming
While we lay with reality streaming
On either side of the bed.

Phantoms through my psyche streaking,
You held me close to still the shrieking
The weight of it set your bones to creaking
And started pounding in my head.

We know our senses are deceiving
The only truth is in believing
That victory is achieving
Indifference to the dead.

Angels

Sweet gift of love and light
Keeps my soul shining bright
Sweet gift of love and light
Troubles are out of sight
A joy from heaven sent
Keeps my soul shining bright
To ease my heart's torment
A mortal's humble grace
A joy from heaven sent
Most welcoming embrace
To take away my pain
A mortal's humble grace
My strength they do sustain
They show me right from wrong
To take away my pain
They keep me standing strong
Sweet gift of love and light
They show me right from wrong
Sweet gift of love and light

The Raven's Lover

The branches are clean and bare
Some find them creepy and cold
They do not understand what’s fair

I dwell among their beauty. She was bold
Alone among her clan.
Some find them creepy and cold

And when she accepted my love as a man
They heard my state and shunned her
Alone among her clan.

I brought her home, gave her gifts of fur
I showed her what I am
They heard my state and shunned her

I asked her to take me back to her world
No such yardbird e’re there could belong
I showed her what I am

My house is now empty of song
The branches are clean and bare
No such yardbird e’re there could belong
They do not understand what’s fair

Longing

I long to find a serum for my soul
To ease the tearing pain
I've come to know.

A potion that would ease my troubled head
and take away the thoughts
I truly dread.

A tonic to erase my memory
of strength and grace which
haunt me constantly.

An elixir to stop my bleeding heart
Would that I never found you
from the start.

I long to find a path that leads to you.
The road before laden with
simple truth.

Were I to find a drug or find my way
I'd take you in my arms and seize the day
And take a thousand pictures with my eyes;
Collateral against tearful goodbyes.

Am I Ready

A bird caught in a cage
My thoughts never new flight
Pent up they were with rage

Life never seemed bright
I in me ,somewhere lost
Nothing seemed to go right

Yearned to fly at any cost
Shattered strength, I salvaged
Somehow wanted to melt this frost

All my wounds I gradually bandaged
Fought for smiles in exchange
All the obstacles ,I challenged

Love brought this big change
But still I have some fright
Lurking in a feeling so strange
Me fluttering my wings for flight

Wings restored again
But still a question remains
Am I ready for this flight??

Epitaph

The epitaph has been read,
For the man with no grave,
With eternity as his bed.

The very love he gave,
Turned out to be his snare,
To destiny he was a slave.

Yet the signs were there,
Turn back or be lost,
Still he did not despair.

He said there could be no cost,
That he was unwilling to pay,
No path would be left uncrossed.

He went with a smile they say,
Leaving an emptier man behind,
As with his love he passed away.

What answers will he find,
The better part of me that’s gone,
Yet, his cause worthy, he died happily in his mind,
And what more can one ask, in a world where everything seems so wrong.

The Sensual Side of Passion

The Sensual Side of Passion

Knows:
steamy
sensations
mind-tingling
luscious vibrations, romancing, dancing…

Eagerness excites hope as longings swell.
fantasy lives
reason dies
and love
wins.
