True Friend

Whoever says dogs aren’t too smart
never knew Apollo,
who’d lead us cleverly to things
he wanted, and we’d follow. . .

This German Shepherd, friendly and
obedient and bright,
was so devoted we could feel
secure throughout the night.

For he was always with us,
our protector, yet our child,
a funny pet who loved to play
but never got too wild.

And anyone who says a dog
does not know how to love
has not had a true friend like mine
to sing his praises of!

A tribute to the German Shepherd who was beloved of my friend Lis.

Love Sonnet Take 1

Firm against the tempest we stand
Hip to hip and hand in hand
And when your hair flicks my nose
An excited shiver reaches my toes

As we stand beneath shining full moon
I shuffle a little to create room
To fully appreciate the breathless sight
That is your beauty by silvery light

Then I look upon that incongruous stanza
Doubts roll through me like a German Panzer
But stressors melt at the touch of your palm
For when we embrace my mind goes calm

We hang our destinies on the same hook
And into a hazy future together we look

Sweet Banana Splits

Egyptian flavours
Candie's; chaste
Marshmellows
Delicious
Autumn's shaved
Ice French vanilla
Cream; covered in
German soft milk
Chocolates
Virgin Italian
Cherries; soaked
Coconut rum
English toffee
Pineapple bits
Melting
In our mouths
Swirling intoxications
Asian strawberries
Spanish caramels
Candie's
African mints
Dipped, in Autumn's
Native cream.

Je Taime

        I met this French Girl
And I said to her, je t’aime
	I met this German Girl
And l said to her, ich liebe dich
	I met this Italian Girl
And I said to her, tia amo
	I met this Malay Girl
And I said to her, aku cinta padamu
	I met this Korean Girl
And I said to her, sa rang hae yo
	I met this Thai Girl
And I said to her, chan rak khun

        I may know how
to “This” In many Languages
	But I am only
Saying that “I Love You”.

Yellow German Love Letters

There is a blanket of yellow love.
She wrote to me of it
In an unleavened light letter,
Where my god is your god, and
Sudden drops of bereavement
leave a love nest of hands,
Making certain you knew you were part of the whole,
A vibrant pulsating joy button.
Your hands are there to hold not swat.
"Bread" in German is "Brot."

My Family

young couple in love
nurturing parents now gone
       left their legacy

       global heritage
 french, spanish, lil' italian
       irish and german

      a real smorgasbord
  main ingredient was love
       served to all of us

        one older brother
younger sister - my best friend
       grew up on a farm

        life was lots of fun
but there was work to be done
     raised with faith in God

        strong lineage tree
branched with children of our own
       fed with lots of smiles

New Love

I have learned
to dream again,
dance cloud dances,
wear a dress of sunset red,
thirteen veils of air
that swirl around me.

It is raining flowers-
why
does nobody notice?

I shake a few butterflies from my hair,
smile at the old Chagall,
and fly off to meet you.

I wrote this poem in German when I had just fallen in love with the man who is now my husband. Translated it into English 30 years later.

Guernica

April 26th, 1937,
There came a day, when some would see Heaven.
The light shine above the heads,
To resemble the sparks of the bombs threads.

Mothers with their children,
Running out of the burning building.
German and Irish planes,
Flying above the open flames.

It was during the Spanish Civil War,
That lit the devils door.
Running through the ashes,
As the corps of the giving cattle crashes.

All you could do was watch,
If you weren't smart enough to launch.
Families refusing to leave their home,
Their love deepened as shown.

April 26, 1937,
Was when God got most up in heaven.

He's Just a Small Town Southern Man

I know of a man
The finest man from the Southern land
That man is my dad
He is just a small town Southern man

As strong as a bull and as old as a mountain,
He wouldn’t harm a flea and is as wise as can be
He’s as smart as a whip,
You can’t teach an old dog new tricks

He rather be working at home or at the family farm,
Instead he works on washers and dryers every day
He drinks Heineken from some German town
Cause he truly is just a small town Southern man

Eloquent Banter

He claims he’s got eloquent banter In truth he’s a terrible ranter who just posts on Twitter and makes people bitter Perhaps he should be more galanter Some folks love to use a long word Out of context it sounds quite absurd They thumb through a thesaurus Use long words that just bore us To be honest they look like a nerd Eloquent banter you tease me so nicely Contest Sponsored by Edward McCall 02/02/18 *galanter from German meaning should be more noble/chivalrous

How can their love end?
Not by German or French men...
not even by plane.

Flames of Sorrow

Oh how I saw a dreadful thing today!
You wretched thing, your grievous wretched act,
How dare you leave me for this piece of clay!
Unkindly you have broke our solemn pact
To never leave each other in our hold
Of affectations held by bonding brass;
But yet you left the nest to keep the cold
Away from us, and joined this piece of crass!
Oh how I wish to —Nein!*—Explain no more!
My eyes are clear enough, my heart is not.
The forge of your demise I have begun
To light, to force the blade of budding clot;
To reap what you have sown; the flames of hate
Of love, of sorrow and despair, inflate!

Note:
Nein- German for no

Jl Giant Poet U Hoo

The Giant's

Of the wonder class
With outstretched looking ears
And pierced whistleblowers lips

Never had a mother
To sew their name into
Their favorite clothes
Or a home with a wardrobe to hang them in

They were instead chosen to become
The dead poet's and tortured artist's
We recite today

By speaker's corner

At wakes and funerals
On cold and grey rainy days
Outside derelict building's
Who's roofs were lost to german bombs

We as children dared each other not to go into

For fear of stirring up a hornets nest

Of represed abandonment feelings

Lest best we be remembered forgotten

Bringing Families Closer With Cake

The smooth curves of the round cake decorated with icing.

The appealing smell of coconut and chocolate mixed together.

The beauty of brown flowers amid a glaze of nuts and coconut.

The eagerness of the child and the smiling mother for a slice,

Of stunning German Chocolate Cake.

The taste of heaven on the tips of their tongue.

The chocolate melting in their mouths.

The coconut and nuts sweetening their lips.

Each chocolate iced rose sprinkled with chocolate dust.

The child’s face covered in rich chocolate.

The cake bringing families closer together.

And smiles all the wider.

Miles Apart

Dedicated to one of my best friends Chelsea Noel “Fowler” German

My dearest friend has moved away
She now lives in another state
Still friends we always are
Has moved away my dearest friend

Birds of a feather we flack together
We have flown apart
We’ll always be together in our hearts
We flack together birds of a feather

We will be together again someday
As we spend our time apart
We pray for each others Hearts
Together again someday we will be

I cry inside thinking of the years we will spend apart
Phone calls keep us talking
Love keeps linked together
Thinking of the years we will spend apart I cry inside

Her Smile Mona Lisa

Her beauty not Japanese
Or German
Not either English
Nor Irish
Her beauty not consumed in Bollywood
Or either tabbed in Hollywood
The beauty pure hidden her soul
Not words what could bear
Nor either colors can paint
But only I can say
Oh her smile's talk
Took my heart
Eyes twisted
Dark of night
To the dawn of Mona lisa

Loving You!

Loving you is as tasty as German Chocolate cake.

Loving you is the smell if lavender flowers.

Loving you feels like a warm bath of rose pedals.

Loving you is the sight of a sunset over the crystal blue waters of the ocean.

Loving you is simply a piece of heaven.

Love Italian Style

Come over to my house, big boy. I can show you many minutes of joy. Columbus took a chance, and he found a new land. Just follow me my man. You can take my hand. You will find an Italian girl that is sweet. I am everything a man wants. I am very complete. I guarantee satisfaction. I aim to please. Just give my little hand a gentle squeeze. You will enjoy making love Italian style. I can make you feel at home all the while. Irish, German, and English girls are nice. However, we Italian girls can melt away the ice. I am a woman that is just right to choose. I can make you an offer you cannot refuse.

The Kaiserin

Bavarian beauty, she reigned as queen,
Sisi her name, had no love for the court,
with grace and beauty she captured a scene,
a free spirit her courtiers couldn't thwart,
as hearts were won, where ever she was seen,
the horse her choice of favoured riding sport,
Sisi became the German Kaiserin.

The youthful bride when history was made,
yet death still came and stole her beloved son,
In Mayerling, the place suicide played.
So dressed in black of mourning, still she shone
as fate lay wait with an assassin's blade,
to pierce her heart under September's sun
the socialite of beauty slipped to shade.

The Pact

Our day has come to love beyond the night
To ride our wave against the world of fear
Give me your hand and let me draw you near
My love, come join me on the wingless flight
And destruction may be the way ahead
My arms embrace will hold you ever close
Protect you from the words that presuppose
Our love will not last long enough to wed
We will prove them all wrong I promise you
Their closed minds can’t understand you and me
They do not see the precious things we see
Only eyes of love can see the ways so true
As darker whispers set us to run free
So, hold me tight, my love, so we can be

a perfection in words, was his plan

German Lust

kisses came as beggars in the night,
falling from the sky we slid into alley ways,
and we had enough hunger to make
sandcastles float on top of water.

she showed me love letters,
wishing someone could have written
at least one to her.

for all the rebellion we had hell
in our blood,
it tasted good to have it rain on our faces.

lost people collected heroes,
winners had enough,
enough to burn churches and saints.

pianos played,
feeding on each other until she pushed me away,
and her eyes got ready to awake alone
to an empty room.
